Coronavirus Update – 3/17/2020
Dear Faith Baptist Church Family and Friends,
On Monday, March 16, President Donald Trump issued new COVID-19 guidelines for the next 15 days to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. One of the guidelines recommends that people not gather in groups of 10 or more. We have a biblical obligation to follow this guideline out of honor to our God-ordained government (Romans 13:1-7; 1 Peter 2:13-17) and out of love for one another (Matthew 7:12; John 13:34-35). Therefore, all our corporate services and activities will be temporarily suspended until April 1.
We also have a biblical obligation not to forsake corporate worship (Heb. 10:24-25). In our public, corporate worship we testify that Jesus is risen from the dead and we declare the unity of the Body of Christ (Ephesians 4:4-5; Philippians 1:27). Thank the Lord that we live in an age where this is not a question of either/or but both/and. We can both stay apart physically and still meet together virtually! On Wednesday evenings at 7pm (March 18th and 25th) and Sunday mornings at 10am (March 22nd and 29th) we will meet virtually using the program Zoom. Zoom allows video conferencing capability on any device. Please email pastor (email@example.com) if you would like to be sent a link to join our virtual meetings!
For God’s Glory,
Pastor and the Deacons of Faith Baptist Church
Here at Faith Baptist Church, we endeavor to make much of our great God. You will find a strong commitment to sound exposition of the Scriptures, God-centered worship, and the faithful proclamation of the Gospel.
More than fifty years ago, in Albert Lea, MN, a small group of believers came together to worship. Shortly after, Faith Baptist Church was born. Today FBC continues to strive to glorify God by the careful preaching and teaching of God’s Word.
These nine distinctives will give you an idea of our beliefs (though you can learn much more by reading our Statement of Faith):
- Accuracy and authority of the Bible (II Timothy 3:16, 17)
- Soul liberty (Romans 10:13)
- The Sovereignty of God (Matthew 20:15)
- Pure, regenerate, baptized church membership (Acts 2:38, 41)
- Sovereign, independent, local churches (Acts 2:38, 41)
- Two Officers: Pastor and Deacons (I Timothy 3)
- Two Ordinances: Baptism, Lord’s Supper (Acts 2)
- Separation of church and state (Luke 20:25)
- The priesthood of the believers (Hebrews 4:14-16)
